The Rochester Local Section is sincerely grateful for the contributions of our members to the Local Section, region and to the scientific community as a whole. We seek to recognize this through awards and recognition. An event called Recognition Night is held on an annual basis for the Local Section to recognize award recipients and long standing members of the Society.

Harrison Howe Award
The prestigious Harrison Howe award is given to an individual for outstanding contributions to research in chemistry defined in its broadest sense. The award typically recognizes a relatively young recipient with potential for further outstanding achievement.

Volunteerism Award
The Volunteerism Award recognizes significant volunteer efforts of individuals who have served the Rochester Local Section of the American Chemical Society, contributing significantly to the vision and mission of the Society through their Local Activities.

Entrepreneur Award
This award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who have created a commercially viable business within the chemical enterprise.

High School Chemistry Teacher of the Year
The purpose of this award is to recognize local chemistry teachers for dedication to their students, their colleagues and professional development in their field.

Special Recognition Award
Special Recognition Award is an outreach program that gives the Rochester Section an opportunity to underscore the accomplishments and achievements of our volunteers who have contributed to the success of our events. Through these events, the Rochester Section brings a greater public awareness of Chemistry to the Rochester Region.

ACS Fellows Program
The purpose of the ACS Fellows Program, one component of the broader ACS Awards Program, is to recognize and honor members of the American Chemical Society for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the science and the profession and for their equally exemplary service to the Society.
